Grace A. Tanner Center for Human Values

Located in the Special Collections area on the Garden Level of the Sherratt Library, the Tanner Center at Southern Utah University is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for study and use of reference materials.

Funded by the Tanner Trust for Utah Universities through the generosity of the late Professor Obert C. and Mrs. Grace A. Tanner, the Center provides a focal point and physical setting for the annual Grace Adams Tanner Lecture in Human Values. Additional programs sponsored annually include the Distinguished Faculty Honor Lecture; the Grace A. Tanner Scholarship (covering tuition and fees for a full year); and the Tanner Symposium.

The Tanner Center seeks to promote access to scholarly and scientific learning in all areas of human values which embrace moral, artistic, intellectual, and spiritual concepts. The resources of the Tanner Room, including the Tanner Philosophical Library, are available for reference in the pursuit of these ideas.

The primary orientation of the Center is philosophical, but special care is taken to include for discussion the full range of values provided by other disciplines pertinent to the human condition.
