The concept of this painting is centered around empathy and what it means to know how another feels. During the course of this and last semester, I have further explored empathy and what it means to take a walk in another’s shoes. I wanted to portray a powerful yet delicate message that nothing brings relief to our aching quite like the comfort of someone who truly understands. I believe that the purpose of life is to build connections with each other and to be involved in meaningful communities. Through my personal study I have found that empathy is the best way for me to build those connections.
