Your donation can make a direct impact on the lives of military-connected students at Southern Utah University. By contributing to our Military Connected Student Scholarship and other resources, you'll provide vital financial assistance and essential support that empower these deserving individuals throughout their academic journeys.

There are several opportunities for your donation to make an impact on our military-connected students:

• Military Connected Student Scholarships

The Veterans Center awards $250 general scholarships to four (4) outstanding students who are military-connected and may have a financial need each Fall and Spring semester. Recurring donations ensure the scholarship continues on for years to come and provides an opportunity to increase the amount we are able to award each student.

• Knowledge Locker Textbooks

The Veterans Center maintains a limited textbook library for our students to rent each semester at a discounted price. Your donation allows us to purchase a wider variety of program textbooks as well as the most current versions on those subjects. For students who donate relevant books, each book donated is a free semester of rentals.

• Degree Specific Supplies and Equipment 

Many of our military-connected students pursue degrees at SUU which may require more than just textbooks such as aviation, nursing, engineering, and other programs. When you donate, you help provide those much needed supplies for our students’ success while helping to alleviate financial strain.

• Veterans Lounge Snacks and Drinks

We have a lounge dedicated to our military-connected students to hang out in between classes, eat, study, or just relax. We try to keep snacks and drinks stocked in the lounge which helps our students who need something quick to eat and also to help alleviate any food insecurities they may be facing. The Veterans Center welcomes any and all food and drink donations that we can place in the lounge for our military-connected students.

It is the Veterans Center mission to recruit, support, and graduate military-connected students including veterans, those military members currently serving, and their dependents. Through various events and programs throughout the year, we partner with local organizations to create additional resources and opportunities for those students.

Our event and program sponsors directly support the well-being of our military-connected students while simultaneously gaining valuable exposure for their organizations.

Annual Disc Golf Tournament Fundraiser

Every spring semester we host an annual Veterans for Vets Disc Golf Tournament Fundraiser which is a 13 hole course set up right here on the SUU campus. All proceeds from the event go towards our Military Connected Student Scholarship and other resources for our students. We begin looking for tournament sponsors around January for the following:

Disc Golf Hole Sponsor - $150 (13 holes available)

• Your logo will be featured on a sign at your sponsored hole, and we will also mention and tag you on social media in any advertisements we put out leading up to the event

Super Spouse Social

Many of our military-connected students arrive with their families, and we are committed to ensuring they all feel welcomed and integrated into our amazing community. To further support our students’ spouses and ensure they have the necessary resources, the Veterans Center hosts a social event for new incoming students' families at the beginning of each Fall and Spring semester. It is an opportunity for spouses to make social connections and we provide resources for employment support, educational opportunities, financial guidance, mental health, childcare, and more.

Your organization can sponsor this event through the following:

• Donating items or gift cards for prize drawings
• Reserving a table to provide resources for any of the areas mentioned above or to promote job openings within your organization
• Providing food and drinks

Outstanding Military Connected Student Bell Tower to Bell Tower Program (BtoB)

The BtoB Program is a roadmap to success. This unique initiative empowers military-connected students to thrive throughout their SUU journey by completing key tasks in academic, professional, financial, and personal development. This program helps navigate our students from bell tower to bell tower, providing invaluable skills, resources, and opportunities that will prepare them for a bright future.

Graduating students who complete all the key tasks within the program will be recognized by the Veterans Center at an awards ceremony at the beginning of each April. To further support these outstanding students, sponsors donations help provide the following to kickstart their career:

• Gift cards for professional attire
• LinkedIn Premium subscriptions
• Books on leadership and professional development
• Professional planner
• Laptop/tablet accessories
• And more!

Every November, we host the annual SUU Veterans Day concert in the Ballroom of the SUU Sharwan Smith Student Center. This program includes inspiring speakers, music provided by SUU's Wind Symphony and Concert Choir, and most importantly, we pay tribute to 11 veterans found within SUU and the local community.

Please take a moment to recognize and nominate a fellow veteran who has gone above and beyond in their achievements and service at Southern Utah University OR within the community. Although we are only able to honor 11 veterans at each annual program, nominations are welcome year round so we can continue to recognize the outstanding SUU and local veterans.
