Handbook

The current handbook is available.

Intensive English Program

We have an innovative Intensive English Program which includes a strong emphasis on “learning by doing.” There are 6 levels in our Intensive English Program; each level has two courses: Oral Language and Written Language. Grammar is integrated into both courses. Each level may be completed in one 7-week term.

Intensive English Program Placement

There are two options for placement into IEP courses:

  1. Submit an official TOEFL, IELTS, OR iTEP Academic score report. Unofficial score reports and/or screen shots will not be accepted.
  2. Take a placement exam upon arrival. The exam is free for first-time students who do not submit language test scores. For students who wish to take the placement exam instead of using their language test scores, there is a charge of $50. Please note that the results of our placement exam are final, and supersede previously submitted scores.

The table below lists the exam scores necessary to be placed at each IEP level. Students must have a score for one of the three placement exams and a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Level TOEFL iBT IELTS iTEP academic
IEP 1 32-38 3.0 2.5-2.8
IEP 2 39-45 3.5 2.9-3.1

Foundation Program

For students who are not ready to begin our Intensive English Program, we offer a Foundation Program. There are two levels: Foundation 1 and Foundation 2. Each level includes 2 courses, and can be completed in one term (7 weeks). The Foundation Program follows the same calendar as the Intensive English Program. Foundation courses are offered on an as-needed basis.
