ALCC Students

VISAS Program

Volunteers with International Students and Scholars

VISAS (Volunteers with International Students And Scholars) is a volunteer program to encourage interaction and friendship between domestic students and international students. There are three roles that students can volunteer for:

Language and Culture Consultants

Language and Culture Consultants (LCC's) meet individually with international students and have conversations in English. LCC's may either be domestic students or international students, but they should be fluent or native English speakers.

Volunteer to help international students learn English as an LCC.

If you are an international student at SUU, practice with an LCC.

Classroom Assistants

Classroom Assistants (CA) come to real English as a Second Language (ESL) classes held on campus or virtually and act as teaching assistants. Volunteer to be a Classroom Assistant.

VISAS Cafe attendees

VISAS Cafe attendees come to a free conversation club with snacks and drinks (when not held virtually) and just enjoy socializing with other students. No signup is required for VISAS Cafe. Receive VISAS Cafe reminders and invites.

Any of these opportunities are a great chance to interact with and help international students at Southern Utah University.
