Cost of Attendance

Navigating your educational expenses is crucial for a smooth journey at Southern Utah University (SUU). We're here to provide a clear, comprehensive overview of what the 2025-2026 academic year costs might look like for you, across different programs and living situations.

What does the Cost of Attendance Include?

  1. Tuition: The core cost for enrolled courses, varying by program and enrollment status (full-time/part-time, undergraduate/graduate, and Resident/Non-Resident).
  2. Fees: Mandatory charges aside from tuition, covering services like library access, gym facilities, student union operations, and some course fees.
  3. Housing and Food: Expenses for accommodation and meals, which differ based on whether you live on-campus or off-campus, and whether you opt for meal plans or self-cater.
  4. Books and Supplies: Estimated cost for textbooks, course materials, and other academic supplies required for your studies.
  5. Transportation: Costs associated with commuting to and from campus, including gas, public transit fares, and occasional vehicle maintenance for students who drive.
  6. Personal Expenses: Miscellaneous outlays for clothing, entertainment, and other day-to-day needs that fall outside of direct educational costs.

We understand that some students may have expenses that are above what has been calculated for the cost of attendance budget. You can set up an appointment with your Financial Aid Counselor to discuss the option of increasing the cost of attendance budget. Some examples of what we can increase include but are not limited to:

  • Mortgage/Rent
  • Computer purchase
  • Repairs to your car (not including routine maintenance)
  • Unusual debts (not including credit card debt for recreational purposes)

Understanding How Your Aid Impacts the Cost of Attendance:

It's essential to know how various forms of aid interact. We'll help you navigate the complexities, ensuring your aid package meets your financial needs without unnecessary reductions. The Cost of Attendance is a high end estimate of your potential cost, but it is not your bill. Your financial aid and scholarships will reduce your costs, and what you pay in various categories may be influenced by your personal choices.
