SUU PREP

What if math could crack secret codes, engineering could keep a cardboard boat afloat, and physics could explain the forces that make the world move? At SUU PREP, learning goes far beyond the classroom!

Hosted by the SUU STEM Center for Teaching and Learning and in partnership with Event Horizon Spaceworx, SUU PREP is a free, three-summer academic adventure for motivated middle school students who are ready to think creatively, tackle challenges, and discover what they can do.

Through hands-on STEM experiences and exciting field trips, students will unlock the secrets of cryptography, put logic and problem-solving skills to the test, compete in the annual cardboard boat race, and design solutions to real-world challenges. Along the way, they will explore exciting career possibilities, strengthen their teamwork skills, and see firsthand how classroom concepts connect to the world around them.

PREP is about more than learning STEM. It’s about building confidence, embracing challenges, asking bigger questions, and connecting with a community of curious students who love to explore, create, and innovate.

Students who are currently in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade during the 2026–2027 school year are encouraged to apply.
