Choral Composition Competition for Young Composers
The SUU Music Department invites talented young composers, ages 16-25, to submit original choral works for the inaugural SUU Choral Composition Competition. This exciting opportunity features two categories--SATB and SSA--with winning pieces performed live by the SUU Choirs in February 2026.

SATB Category
- First Place: Laudate Dominum Omnes Gentes by Raditya Daneswara
- Second Place: Soon by Josh Marley
- Third Place: medusa by Juniper Allen
SSA Category
- First Place: Kehr Uhm by Hailey Paschal
The First Place SATB winner's piece will be performed at the SUU Choirs concert on February 19, 2026, at 7:30 p.m., and will be posted to YouTube a few days later. The SSA piece may be heard on February 19 or in April 2026.

Eligibility & Guidelines
Composers must be 25 or younger on December 1, 2025. Submissions must be original works for SATB or SSA (accompanied or unaccompanied), with up to two additional standard instruments plus piano. Works must be under 10 minutes, unpublished, and without prior professional performance. Submit a PDF score, audio file, and completed entry form to andrewbriggs2@suu.edu with the subject line: Young Composer Contest Submission - [Your Name].
