Applying for Graduate Admission at Southern Utah University

Start by exploring Southern Utah University graduate programs to select the right area of study for your goals. SUU offers online and on-campus master’s programs, endorsements, and licenses in fields like Education, Communication, Accounting, Aviation, and more. Requirements, deadlines, and materials vary by program, so review your chosen program carefully.

After selecting your program, begin your online graduate application. Gather essential materials like official transcripts, reference information, and a current resume. Each program may have specific requirements. Submitting complete materials helps ensure timely processing of your application.

Eligibility: SUU Graduate Studies welcomes applicants with a U.S. bachelor’s degree or an equivalent international degree from an accredited school.

Graduate Application Steps

Step One

  • Begin your application. The Office of Graduate Admissions processes all graduate applications. Use the online application portal to submit, review, or update your application

Step Two

  • Upload most supporting documents directly in the online application or email them to gradapps@suu.edu.
  • Official transcripts may be sent electronically via National Student Clearinghouse, Parchment, or E-Script, or directly from your previous institution. Always list gradapps@suu.edu as the recipient.
  • Ensure you complete the online application and click submit to finalize your submission.

Step Three

  • Monitor your application using the Student Experience portal. If materials are received but not marked resolved, contact Graduate Admissions at gradapps@suu.edu or call 435-865-8665.
  • The Student Experience portal is the official channel for updates, deadlines, program FAQs, and communications from your program advisor. Regularly checking the portal ensures you stay informed about all application requirements and program announcements.

Graduate Admission Types Include

Graduate degree admission is for candidates seeking to complete a Certificate, Endorsement, Licensure or Master’s program.

Non-degree graduate status lets students earn graduate credit without formal admission to a graduate degree program.

  • Graduate non-degree credits
    • Up to six non-degree seeking graduate credits within one semester are allowed with the approval of the program director. Acceptance as a graduate non-degree seeking student does not imply future admission to a degree program.
  • Financial Aid
    • Applicants admitted as graduate non-degree seeking students are NOT ELIGIBLE for financial aid. Graduate non-degree seeking students are assessed the graduate-level tuition and fees at the master’s level rate for all credits taken.
  • Academic Eligibility
    • To enroll as a non-degree graduate student, applicants need a baccalaureate or higher from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • How to Apply
    • Apply online ($60 Application fee is non-refundable). Applicants only need to submit the application, fee, and transcripts (unofficial/official) showing baccalaureate degree earned.

To be granted full admission, applicants must hold the equivalent of a U.S. baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution. Read all graduate admission requirements for international students.

Students who are seeking readmission to graduate programs after an approved Step Out or who did not maintain continuous registration.

  • You are returning after an approved Step Out
    • You will be readmitted after completing the Step Out form. You will not be required to pay the $15 readmission fee. 
  • You have not maintained continuous registration
    • If you have been out of school for more than three semesters (one calendar year), you must apply for admission as a returning student and pay the $15 readmission fee. 

Helpful Instructions and Information

Order all official transcripts early to ensure SUU gets them promptly for your application.  Any delay could cause you to miss out on your desired start date, so order your transcripts today!

To order your transcripts, simply follow these steps:

  1. Begin with a list of all educational institutions for which you need official transcripts.
  2. Search for those schools using transcript ordering service provider links, below. Please note: If your school is not listed with an electronic transcript service, you will need to contact that institution directly to order transcripts. Most schools offer online transcript ordering via their websites.
  3. You will need to create an account with the transcript ordering service provider once you have found your school(s) as listed above.
  4. Select Southern Utah University as the destination for your transcripts.
  5. Place your order for delivery electronically, or by mail:

  1. You will need to pay for your order using a major credit or debit card. You may also need to provide consent (e-signature) and an email account for verification of the order and tracking notifications.
  2. Using your account, you will be able to log in to check the status of your completed order at any time.

Student Loans

Student loans are administered through the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships and are based on demonstrated financial need. The Financial Aid office provides information and assistance to prospective, new and enrolled graduate students.

Nondegree seeking students, licensure programs and endorsements are not financial aid eligible.

Federal Pell Grants

Federal Pell Grants are not eligible for students at the graduate or non-degree seeking level.
