Graduate Scholarships, Tuition Waivers and Assistantships
At SUU, we believe cost should never hold you back from earning your degree. Whether through graduate scholarships, tuition waivers, or assistantships, our goal is to make advanced education accessible and rewarding.
Graduate School Scholarship
Southern Utah University (SUU) offers one of the best graduate scholarships to help students afford their master’s degree. The Let's GO scholarship is designed to reward academic achievement, leadership, and dedication to your field of study. Award amounts may change each semester based on need and program funding.

Graduate Program Tuition Waivers
SUU also offers tuition waivers for graduate students to make earning your master’s degree more affordable. A tuition waiver can cover part or all of your tuition costs, helping reduce your overall financial burden. Like scholarships, tuition waivers are determined by each program and may vary each semester.
If you’re interested in learning more about graduate tuition waivers, check your program’s financial aid section for current opportunities and deadlines.
International students attending full-time, on-campus at SUU and paying non-resident tuition may be eligible to apply for a tuition waiver. This is a great opportunity to help make your graduate education more affordable while studying in the U.S.

Graduate Student Assistantships
Another way to fund your education is through graduate assistantships. These opportunities allow students to work in teaching, research, or professional roles related to their field of study. In return, students receive a tuition waiver or stipend to help pay for their degree.
Graduate assistantships not only help with tuition costs—they also give you hands-on experience and help build your professional skills. The availability of graduate assistant positions changes by program and semester, so be sure to check with your department for current openings and application requirements.
SUU’s Master of Professional Communication (MPC) program offers both teaching and non-teaching graduate assistantships to help students gain hands-on experience while offsetting tuition costs.
Teaching Assistantships allow students to teach undergraduate courses—typically COMM 1010: Introduction to Communication—or assist with faculty research within the program. Graduate teaching assistants generally work up to 10 hours per week and can receive up to $2,000 in tuition compensation per semester.
Non-Teaching Assistantships focus on research or special departmental projects. These positions usually require 8–10 hours per week and provide approximately $1,000 in tuition compensation.
To be considered for an assistantship, students must submit a Graduate Assistantship Application by March 15 each year.
Assistantships are an excellent opportunity to gain professional experience, develop leadership skills, and make meaningful connections while pursuing your graduate degree.
Masters of Public Administration students may apply for graduate assistantships each year.
