Internships at SUMA

Workers install an exhibition by hanging pieces at SUMA.

Southern Utah Museum of Art (SUMA) offers an internship program designed to provide hands-on training and experience in an academic museum environment. If you are a student at SUU curious about museum operations or considering a career in the field, we encourage you to apply. SUMA's internship program welcomes applicants from all academic backgrounds, emphasizing the importance of broad perspectives.

Interns work in various museum departments to engage with the public, conduct research, and contribute to marketing efforts and graphic design. This program provides interns with transferable skills, training, and professional experience, along with opportunities to build a network of industry contacts. SUMA internships are offered primarily for undergraduate students. Opportunities vary by semester. The program includes training, direct work experience, professional development, and career path education directly related to your areas of interest. Participants must be available to work during SUMA open hours for the entire semester.

Application materials include:

  • One letter of recommendation
    • Educational or professional reference only
